EDP Spring Exposure Camp 2024

Elite Development Program is proud to host spring skills camps for birth years 2010-2015, running from April 4-7, 2024.

Whether you are an existing EDP player/family, an interested prospective player or just looking for a great skills camp from the program that produced the 2023 USA Hockey National U14 Tier II semi-finalists (highest ever placing for a team from Ohio), this is your opportunity for a great spring skills tune up & chance to see what we’re all about and be seen.

On Saturday April 6 we will have an informational meeting for current and prospective EDP families about our plans for the summer and full season 24-25 program.

All ice sessions at the Lou & Gibb Reese Ice Rink (Newark), unless otherwise indicated.

U10: April 5, 6-6:50p; April 6, 3:30-4:30p, April 7, 10-11am

U12: April 5, 7-8p; April 6, 4:40-5:40p, April 7, 11:10-12:10p

U14: April 4*, 7:40-8:40p (*@ Chiller Easton), April 6, 5:50-6:50p,

All ice sessions at the Lou & Gibb Reese Arena (Newark) except the Thursday, April 4, U14 session, which is at Chiller Easton.

High intensity progressive skill development with EDP coaches. Great opportunity for a spring tune up and, if you aren’t an existing EDP player, to see and learn more about the program. On Saturday April 6 at 4:40p there will be an informational meeting for those who are interested to learn more about the program and opportunities moving forward in the 2024 summer and our 24-25 season full season programming.

Q: Are numbers for each age group capped?

A: Yes, numbers are capped at 30 skaters and 4 goalies per session to ensure adequate ice time, reps and opportunity to shine.

Q: Goalies? Will there be goalie instruction?

A: Absolutely. At EDP we have dedicated goalie coaching and progressive age-appropriate instruction not just at this camp but all season for our full season goalies. It's a huge reason why our long time goalies have disproportionate success not only when in High School but at U16 and U18 AAA programs including programs in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire. and Massachusetts.

Q: My child will be a bantam next year. Will the camp curriculum involve any instruction on checking?

A: Yes, modern checking is not designed to separate a player from their skates, but to create turnovers and offensive chances: in short, contact for competitive advantage. Hopefully body contact has been part of your child's instruction throughout the years, but express body checking is an art that new players must learn and bantam majors need to work on and refine, both how to take, receive, and be prepared for checking. Our April camp curriculum for bantams will teach this, including angles and reading pressure so they are prepared for the 24-25 season and what it will bring for new or renewed body checking.

Q: Is the Informational meeting for new families, existing EDP families, or both?

A: Both. Whether you are thinking of joining or a 'vet' the informational meeting is designed to discuss program philosophy as well as our plans for the summer and 2024-25 season.
